I believe this may be fixed in Vista SP2. I can't repro on an early SP2 beta.

No not really. You can download a beta build off Microsoft.com right now.

No way, I'm never going to download another beta service pack again.  I'll wait till it's final.

The site never asked you for any of your login details except for the forum login. The program will have asked you but then how do you think a multimessenger is going to work unless it has your log in details for the various protocols?

Perhaps he means the pw recovery, which asks the pw for every digsby-connected protocol.

A lot of the random google searching i've been doing about this issue is mentioning things like indexing service, anti-virus, and other program features that monitor files on the hard drive.

From some tests we've done, it seems like the logging mechanism of the program is up to 10% of Digsby's overall processing requirements. Currently there is no way to disable this, but we will be disabling it (and offering options to enable) once we have most of the bugs worked out.

Digsby was using 99% cpu yesterday. It always uses alot of cpu. I'm back to using Windows Live Messenger now sad

If you primarily use MSN, you should try Digsby out again. There was a bug in MSN (that's been fixed) that caused actions to result in the client being stuck in a busy-loop, using as much of the processor as it could get. If you also use Jabber with SSL/TLS (this includes GTalk), there is still a bug which can cause a similar busy-loop, but this is much less likely than the MSN bug. We're still working on that ;-)

This 1st bug (here mentioned) , is that new (10%)? Is that just when it is logging in? Or is it always at 10% - I have never seen  Digsby STAY high in process for very long before. What else should I look for in Proc Explorer for evidence of the loggin mechanism apparent 'hang'?

This 2nd bug is likely, and happens about once per hour - using Process Explorer, too.  That is how often Gtalk (and Google Voice on smart devices, fyi) checks the contact lists - and I have no idea why it would have to check the client lists that often. But when it checks, the CPU kind of "ckecks out" if you know what I mean. IOW, it hangs the CPU for about 2 to 3 minutes and it is a thread that is hanging, not all the threads of Disgby are demanding the Krell Power (Forbidden Planet reference, sorry, had to). Disgby is like Robby to me - he can do anything. Now, go make me some bourbon!

This is not about Vista 64bit.  This has been going on for some time now.  It could be 64 bit related but not vista only.  I've about given up on this utility  because whoever has taken it over just isn't keeping it up to date and not doing much QA on the releases.

Bottom line, Digsby locks up for me several times a day.  I am a computer technical person so it is not a user or machine issue.  I kill the digsby process to release the lock at least 3 times a day.  It is really annoying and if the developers has any pride in their application they should fix it.  All you have to do is mash-up up a mix of a few hotmail accounts, gmail, yahoo, twitter, facebook, linkedin and let it run throughout the day.  I'm sure you will see the locking behavior it is not rocket science.

By the way, maybe you could consider putting the most recent post at the beginning of the thread.  It is a bit backwards to require people to click through to the end of the thread to find the most recent post.

Donna
