Facebook chat is losing messages and is unreliable

After upgrading to the most recent version of Digsby, 14938, the Facebook chat is completely unreliable. This never seemed to be an issue with the previous working version.
I ran a test with a friend to verify this, and this is simple to reproduce. Friend was on Facebook (web) and I was on Digsby, each of us typed 1-20, each number as a new message. Both had significant message loss, and even message in the wrong order
Here is the result:
Facebook web to Digsby (45% message loss!): 1 3 5 6 8 10 12 15 16 17 18
Digsby to Facebook web (15% message loss!): 2 5 6 7 8 11 10 9 12 13 15 14 16 17 18 19 20
We also noticed that at times the person on Digsby Facebook chat would sporadically vanish from Facebook chat (web) online list.
We ran this test several times and got similar results. The Digsby client was always on Windows XP SP2.
I hope this helps.

Nice test here buddy I reckon this will probably help the dev's hunt down the bugs that are causing this. I've noticed it happening too. Lets just hope they see it eh?

I can't speak for sure on this one, I'm not personally working on the Facebook code, but I don't believe these issues are on our end. There are reports of this problem even messaging back ad forth when both users are on the page. Facebook chat is just out the gate and I'm sure they get all the kinks ironed out soon. Also of note, the official XMPP interface for Facebook chat is coming soon (http://developers.facebook.com/news.php … ;story=110) and we plan on jumping over to that once it's available. It should offer both an extended feature set and increased reliability.
I'm the one that draws pretty pictures on the screen! (AKA a GUI Dev) Check out digsbies.org for all your Digsby customization needs! Talk to us on IRC: #digsby on irc.freenode.org I has a twitter: @Broken_Halo

Thanks Aaron. Will anyone be confirming if your belief is valid or not?

Means they will have to rework the code from what it is now, but thats why digsby is in beta.

I had Digsby messenger up as well as the Facebook page opened. I saw that I (in Digsby) did not get a message that my friend sent me. What happenned is that we both sent it at near the same time. The message hit Facebook, and my reply was sent, but had I not been in Facebook, I'd have lost that message.
Hope this helps if you're planning on fixing this before FB Chat moves to a standard.
I think, therefore I can diagnose tech problems.

a year later and sadly no jabber support and i can't say i'm optimistic about it being added anytime soon.
that aside, i am experiencing message losses. sometimes when i have both the facebook page and digsby open i see that some of the messages appear only on the page but don't get to the client. is anyone else experiencing this? could this be only because i have both of them open at the same time?
anyway i want to thank you guys for a great application!

Just so you know... it's june 2009, so this topic is more than a year old. I started to use Digsby a month ago, and I have the same issues. At least Digsby tells me that not all my messages have been sent.
Still it's annoying.
Any news on the progress?

So this explains then, especially by the results of joeltanner's test, why that when I send someone on FB a message from Digsby, I often get no reply.

Maybe because (allegedly) Facebook is to busy punishing real people so it can make money - http://www.techcrunch.com/2010/01/23/fa … url-harman

I think the facebook chat is more susceptible to errors with FB chat if you're talking via digsby to facebook, and browsing facebook at the same time (changing pages, etc.)
