A great feature would be that you could "filter out" some users.
An example would be that you search after ab and only contacts with an ab inside there nick's or email addy's would just show up till you clear the search field.

Search facility:

Maybe a text box to search contacts.
as i type the contact selection can change to select the top result. (just the way in pidgin)

this is very important especially if one has more than 50 (page full) people in one's contact list (and most of them are online), you really don't want to scroll, scroll and scroll to find a contact of interest, do you?.

I'm curious to see when this will come?
Is this feature already in pipeline for next release?

I've hinted at a more comprehensive contact list elsewhere, which, IMO would be the powerhouse behind such a feature, and several others.  Only an idea at this point, sorry to say.

I will say that we do want to include a feature like this at some point.

In case you haven't noticed, typing after selecting something in the contact list will do a simple, yet fairly intelligent search for contacts.

It only searches opened groups. However, you can use shift+right arrow to expand all groups (shift+left closes them all).

Use Tab to cycle through search results.

This is a suitable work around until something does get implemented.

I'd personally love a box similar to the status message that would filter though contacts. Perhaps adding a small clickable magnifying glass icon on the right side of that status message could facilitate dual functionality and not clutter the UI.

I didn't know that! but I find it pretty useful, but it should search in alle groups instead of just the open ones. If that gets fixed then it's perfect. No search boxes, thoes only get in the way.

Does the basic user search still work? I'm trying to type in my friends name with the Buddy List (yes, it's in focus and the buddy is online), but nothing happens.

Build 21909

Thanks
