SMS Through Google Talk

So Google turned on chat to SMS in gmail:

Is this a feature that will roll out to digsby?  Are you able to interact and pull information from our contacts in gmail, or in my case hosted apps gmail, in order to provide the option to send SMS messages?

Yes, please add this function to Digsby. I'm back to using Gtalk in Gmail becouse of this feature.

we're a bit busy at the moment but feel free to put it on the wishlist and i'm sure we'll get to it eventually ;-)

I was able to receive a message from gmail sms, it came from +1XXXXXXXXXX@sms.talk.google.com, but when I add the contact, it says their status is "unknown". Is there any way their status could be set to available so they show up in the contact list?

sounds like their status should be mobile, right?

also it seems like you can just add +1XXXXXXXXXX@sms.talk.google.com to your contact list and send them messages. it should go to the person's phone.

Yeah, it works when you add +1XXXXXXXXXX@sms.talk.google.com to your contacts, but there status is 'unknown' and they show up in your 'offline' contacts. If you change their alias to '+name' and group your offline contacts, they show up at the top of your 'offline' contacts.

google no longer allows sending SMS via google talk for third-party apps.
