Google talk connection problems

Hi,
I've recently downloaded and setup digsby and love it.
However, I can't get it to connect to google talk. That account just sits there in a connecting / failed / connecting loop. Does anyone else have this problem?
If I start up pidgin, I can immediately connect.
Thanks, Tim

Weird. It started working today.

Hmm, I'm using it from home today instead of work. that might have something to do with it. Does anyone know why Digsby might have problems connecting to gtalk thru work firewalls, while other chat programs don't have issues?
I should be back in the office tomorrow and can check for sure to see if the problem is resolved completely or if it is a work/home issue.

I had an issue connecting to gtalk at work as well. I switched the port to 80 and now it works fine. It's odd though because the gtalk client seems to work fine and I'm assuming that's defaulting to the standard port.

the official client uses a few different ports, i think. (possibly including 80? not sure)

I tried using 80 from work as well, and that didn't seem to work either.

It'd be nice if you could implement something that will attempt to connect on the other ports if the default fails.

in the next update gtalk will be able to connect in a different way ('legacy ssl' i think it's called) and this may help some of you.
But we plan on making connections better across all protocols, that should help with this problem as well.

I'm just install Digsby and I cannot log into Gtalk, I press connect, it tries authenticating, it tries connecting but returns to offline stat and the Connect button.
Any ideas? I've tried port 80 bu that doesn't work either.

I have the same issue but I think its my school firewall. The problem is port 80 solves my issue but the lag time is really high. I type a message and it takes ages to reach the other person and vice versa.

I am unable to connect to Google Talk using Digsby. I don't know if it has something to do with a firewall at work (all the other IM protocols work great through Digsby). I know there is some kind of "IM Proxy" in place here at work, but everything seems to work except Gtalk through Digsby.
I get the error: "Authentication Error: Authentication error condition: not-allowed"
This happens with the default port. It won't work on 443 or 80 either.
I *am* able to connect using the Google Talk client just fine. Just not with Digsby.

This problem suddenly started happening to me. Until today, I connected to gtalk without issue. I tried uninstall & reinstall to no effect. Tried different gtalk servers and ports, to no effect... I love digsby, don't make me want to get rid of it

Any news on this? Despite recent updates, I continue to be unable to connect to gtalk.. Still says "Authentication Error". Tried changing the server to talk.l.google.com as someone posted on the forums, but it didn't work for me. Also tried using some IP address someone posted, that hasn't worked either.
Any ideas? Has this issue been resolved for anyone?

Seriously, no response? NONE? At least make me feel like someone cares or is doing something about this.

Seriously, I figured this thread was mostly dead, due to the above mentioned fact that digsby now tries as many different ways to connect to google's servers as I'm aware of, plus a couple tries at auto-discovery.
Authentication error means you managed to connect to something, then things went downhill, and so, btw, it doesn't belong in this thread. Stuff like "connection failed" or "connection lost", do.
Please submit a bug report, what has been mentioned so far doesn't help at all.
P.S.: Digsby automatically tries the following addresses for google talk if the address in the advanced options fails: talk.google.com:80 w/ TLS talk.google.com:5223 w/ SSL talk.google.com:443 w/ SSL
The default for the advanced options (i.e. the first thing tried) is talk.google.com:5222 w/ TLS
If you feel like experimenting with even more advanced options, try adding it as a jabber account.

A small portion of users have reported authentication errors and swear that the password is correct. In the logs that have been submitted the error returned by gtalk servers is in fact an authentication error. If this has happened to you try logging in with another third party client like Psi or Pidgin. Let us know the results at bugs@digsby.com and mention this thread.
Also, please contact google to get help or post here: http://groups.google.com/group/3rd-Party-Clients/topics
We can't reproduce this here and unless we have a gtalk account to test with that this issue happens to we can't narrow down the cause further.
