Last.fm integration

now, i've been thinking of features... how about this...
digsby music archiver and lastfm integration
basically, digs would store every contacts now playing history for x number of days. when you float over a contact, an icon would appear in the popup box along with email, sms etc for the contacts play list. click it and a window appears with digsby wearing headphones on the left and the contacts recently played tracks in a list panel on the right. under each track info would be a link to last fm for that artist. this could be customisable to allow links to i-tunes, amazon etc.
also you could use lastfm's audioscrobbler plug once you've implemented the "now playing" client side feature. + you could add lastfm to the social networks panel, so it would behave in the same way as google/facebook etc.
Also if Digs supported the AMIP plugin for now playing, it would mean you could support a decent range of compatible media player software.
simple, last.fm integration, another social network on the list What do you think?
[i've mailed this suggestion in, i've posted it here to see what others think!]

Count me in on this one. Even just a simple integration with your friends list and recent played tracks would be very smooth.
It could also act as a revenue stream for you guys with affiliate links to help keep digs advert free.

It's funny, because I just emailed the Digsby team yesterday for the same request. I'm glad other people feel the same way.
They don't even need to go through Audioscrobber plug-in, WinAmp's API is well known in itself. Granted, that would be for simply displaying what you're listening to in your comment.

AMIP support is a better option for the now playing feature, that way all the devs have to do is support the plugin then you can use the functionality in a variety of apps, such as Mirc, winamp, foobar etc.

Ew Last.FM? Go fall in ♥ with Imeem and Anywhere.FM
Plug: http://zathman.imeem.com Plug: http://anywhere.fm/zathman
Now I'd dig Imeem and Anywhere.FM integration somehow

Ew. That's very myspace like.
Last.fm is the truly original music oriented social network.

Perhaps we can agree to disagree with each other
(However I will agree with you that many Imeem profiles are absolutely ghastly, and I also want to remark that I believe MySpace is the scourge of the internet *grin*)
Anywhere.FM on the other hand is unique in its presence online as a media player extraordinaire - plus the fact you can upload all your music and not have to worry about the service going down, that you can play your music anywhere with an internet connection

Anywhere.FM has been bought by Imeem. Last.fm is way better than these services..

If you like to broadly discuss what you like to see with Last.fm integration in Digsby, you may find this link useful: http://www.last.fm/group/Digsby/forum

I'm all for this, perhaps there would be a way to fetch what is playing from the last.fm api much like the last.fm player or the facebook app (last.fm+).
This is preferable because almost every other solution wont support the playing of streaming last.fm music (ie: playlist, personal, loved tracks, neighborhood, etc.).
@zathmam Last.fm is among the best, the only other web 2.0 music site that even competes is thesixyone.com (digg syle voting on music)

Just a list like the other networks show up, example...
Johnny2 loved "Linkin Park - Hands Held Hi" Jessica suggested "Mims - This is Why I'm Hot" You have a friend Request from MarkTraviod etc.
would be cool

I don't care so much about last.fm, i think its kind of creepy that they log all your music listening habits. It is cool since it tells other people what you're listening too tho.
I would like for digsby to show the currently playing song in the status message, like the music info plugin for gaim/pidgn has.

Supporting Last.fm is a good idea, but you shouldn't forget that Last.fm offers a good client with scrobbling service and music search - let's focus on community and interactions between users, not music.

It's likely that's what we'd do. I don't feel like re-implementing audioscrobbler.
