Is it possible to add new IM accounts ?
-    Skype : text, text + audio, or text + audio + video
-    Teamspeak : text + audio.

A lot of gaming team use Teamspeak, and digsby can have a great interest if it can group all the chat messengers and voice software.

Teamspeak is like an « audio iRC », and for example, with Digsby :
-    Add account : label server, server address, nickname, login name, user password, default channel / subchannel and channel password
-    View a new group in digsby with the label server and the selected channel.
-    In this new group « Server – Channel », see the contacts who are in this same channel
-    Add a button, to change the channel in this server

If audio or video are unavaiable for now... can you just add text for skype ?

Or perhaps even just who is online?

I know that a plugin for Pidgin connects to the Skype API for that and text, doubt it would be too difficult.

Not sure how much I'd use voice, but I'd love SkypeIM support!

I am a gamer and would also really like to see teamspeak integration (voice). However, I use Ventrilo more often and would rather see that than TeamSpeak, although both would be nice.

I don't have a signature because they turned the [img] tag off sad

Yes, Skype support will be a massive improvement. I'll go streaking if they do that. Would really love to cut down even more on the IM apps running plus Skype is too business looking (ie BORING). Digsby is the new cool kid on the block. Even the Icon resembles to home start runner dude a little bit too :-)

Skype support will make Digsby even more appealing to the corporate world also, which means an even bigger userbase.

I have never heard of any IM program ever integrating teamspeak or ventrilo into their programs nor have I ever even heard of a program that uses teamspeak or ventrilo besides the default clients... Is there some kind of reason for this? As I would only imagine there would be some kind of problem when you try to reverse engineer.

it would be easier to integrate mumble (open source) and not teamspeak...

Bump.

I support adding Ventrilo/TeamSpeak/Mumble, whatever. I personally use Ventrilo, and wouldn't switch clients due to Digsby support for a different voice chat client, but it would be amazing if I could see who's online. That's all I really care about. Digsby consolidates most of my messaging aside from Ventrilo, Steam, and Skype.

Maybe the Digsby status could be sync'd to your own user comment in Ventrilo.

Support for either Vent or TS would help Digsby cater to the gamer demographic, which is a pretty large sample of technology early adopters.

Edit: In fact, is Digsby at the point where a plug-in could be made? I'll make my own if it comes down to it.

Edit-after-I-actually-read-the-whole-thread-even-though-it's-short: Ventrilo and TeamSpeak integration is not difficult, companies that are in the business of hosting these companies wouldn't host them if they were too difficult to integrate - there are easy ways to query servers to see whose online and check comments, etc. It's all in the documentation.

Skype is another very important feature, I've got 2 contact lists, 2 programs, 2 windows just because of Skype.

Thanks!

I'd say Skype would be right up there for now. I'd be very happy to start off with IM only support, and building up to audio & video. I'm just tired of having two messengers to respond to. Me thinks the folks at Digsby should find out how much it would cost to aquire the technology, and the start a donation fund and have real-time updates on how close we are to the funds needed. lol... no seriously, I'd donate!!
