Pretty simple, listening to status should support the zune program.

Digsby doesn't support windows media player yet. it's planned for a future release, though.

if the zune player is really just WMP (as I would expect), then that's great... I don't have to buy a zune ;-)

The zune software works without a zune, but there's not much point to using it if you don't own one.

I do, and I'd like to see this feature. It'd be a first among other IM clients too, who have not implemented it. (Uh-oh, could this mean that Zune has no third party API possibilities?)

So many things wrong with this thread. The zune program used to use Windows Media Player, however they did a complete rewrite near the end of last year and it no longer does.

The zune software also works without a zune and there is a point to using one even if you don't own it. Firstly you can sign up for the Zune pass and pay a flat monthly fee for unlimited downloads. Secondly you can put that music on any play for sure device (For example a creative zen:vision m), not just a zune. Also you can have online playlists, altho not technically implemented (just have to copy the playlist from one machine to another, no need to redownload everything which is great for work).

I might write a pidgin plugin at some point to do this.

I would love Zune support. Aside from Coverflow on iTunes, the Zune software is the eye-candyest media player available smile

Count me in. I use a Zune and the Zune software, and I'd like people to know I'm listening to the new Asia album wink

Sorry to bump an old post, but nothing new about it and would be great to have Zune support...

@mike Not sure if it helps, but the Zune Player appears to be quite different than the base WMP (and according to some critics is set to take over WMP), Playing around with this feature in other messenger clients found that GoogleTalk can recognize WMP, but not Zune, WindowsLive Messenger recognizes both (naturally)

I'm pretty sure it doesn't use anything to do with Windows Media Player for the "Listening to" feature because in order to activate that in Windows Live Messenger, with the Zune software, you have to add the Zune as a web activity to your Windows Live Profile hmm

Digsby team - is there an update on this? Can we expect Zune software support for the "Listening to" feature any time in the near or far future? smile

I've written a little app that pipes Zune info into Digsby.

http://daveamenta.com/download/Digsby-Zune.zip

I'd like to wrap it into a plugin but will need to check if that is okay first.  For now, you'll need to run /Release/ZuneNowPlaying.exe once, and then Zune song info will show up in Digsby.
