I have just recently come across a free VPN service called VPN Steel. You may find more info and get an account by going to http://www.vpnsteel.com. There's also a forum for it at http://www.vpnsteel.com/forum/index.php.

Well, since more than 300 users have joined the service, Its no longer free. At least he's allowing the people that already have an account to still be able to use it for free smile.

1. Its so that way the server won't be overloaded thereby having reduced speed (which its having, but not because of it being overloaded).

2. Tor isn't as fast as an actual VPN Server.

3. Packetix is located in Japan, so it would be slower than having a connection to VPN Steel.

Actually, its still free. The user just has to renew the 30 days after they're up.
