Install a skin on your account so it will be portable

Seing as skins are relitavly small files, i think we should be able to install them onto the server.

But they should be cached on the pc, so that you don't have to download it everytime you start Digsby.

It would also be nice to make it so that skins auto update. For people who want to hang on to the old version, variants can come in handy, everytime a skin updates, the updates will become a new variant.

This would probably be alot more complicated though

Yea, or when ever you make a skin, you upload it onto the server, then you go to a special page or something and click use this skin with my digsby account or something

most likely, there will be an official place to upload skins, and then some way for digsby to download them to new locations (automatically).  ATM, this is kinda low on the list, but it's something we've wanted to do for a while.

Most of the things on the forum are low on the list, but yea, this is pretty low down.

Skins could be submitted to the server, and if a user selects a skin, then it is downloaded locally. When the client checks for updates, it can also check if the skin has been updated. If, when logging in, the skin does not exist locally, it is downloaded. This way there is a central skin repository and skins are kept up to date, and not loaded from the server every time.

I also like this idea.

Perhaps if a skin is uploaded from a users computer, it can be hash-checked against uploads from other users, so that there aren't duplicates uploaded onto the Digsby servers.
