for those of us that use windows media player and the playlists that come with it.  I'm not and will never be an iTunes user and i have had winamp and it is nice for the sole reason of flac support but I have not found a way to get the music list to work as well as the one in WMP.

I think it would make a lot of uers happy to be able to have the listening to music work with windows media player.  this is the one missing features that is keeping me logging into wlm each morning for msn and digsby for the rest (yahoo, aim, faebook, etc).

please please please get the windows media player integrated so i can truly used one im client for my work and personal contacts.

Thanks in advance!!

Agreed - we haven't been able to find a good way to interface with WMP.  Anyone know of a good API?

The way this plugin works is probably one of the better ways to go.  (Writing a file to the plugins (or digsby) directory.)  Alternatively, window message could be fired at Digsby to negate the file I/O.

If you're looking for a one-way solution, then I don't have a clue, I've been trying to do that for a while.  Perhaps some reverse engineering of Windows Live Messenger is in order.

Yes I would really appreciate support for Windows Media Player. The easiest way I know of to get the song information that's currently playing is through a plugin. There was a addon for AIM 6.5 called AIM Music Link ( http://gallery.aim.com/detail/127 ) which simply installed an addon into windows media player on the install. Maybe in the installer of digsby you could have a checkbox to install WMP Plugin or something along those lines. I hope to see support for it in the future.

Would love to have wmp support, but it still doesn't appear to have been introduced. Any news on this?

An alternative would be to take info from Last.FM, which would then open up a lot more support for other media players.

Just One Question...... What do you have against iTunes?

I have done some preliminary work to add Snarl support to WMP. I don't care for source code copyright, so please feel free to look at the project I have thrown together. It was actually auto-generated using a VS Wizard, but I can't tell you how much pain I had to go through to get it to work in VS Express. The documentation on MSDN for WMP plugins is also surprisingly sparse. It's compilable under VS 2008 Express, though I'm sure you guys have a Pro version of VS.

So, take a look at WMPSnarlEvents.cpp. These are pretty much all the WMP events you can intercept.

I really hope this will give you a good start, and feel free to contact me.
