Alright, up and running now. Thanks for the help guys!

AIM/ICQ/Yahoo/Gtalk up and running along with Facebook chat, two POP email accounts and the Gmail/Yahoo mail accounts and sitting at 20MB of memory usage. Not bad!

running here as well!

2 aim accts/2 yahoo accts/googletalk/facebook chat/msn, one IMAP email acct, facebook notify, myspace notify, and twitter updates

comfortable at an average of 25MB or less, sometimes peaking at 37MB

i noticed that when it seems like its going to keep climbing to use up quite a bit of memory, it all of a sudden drops down to about 5MB and climbs back up to a comfortable ~25MB area

Ah, away messages finally block people's IMs!  Thank you so much; the old version just failed doing that while I was playing a video game, and I got really pissed off at that poor person.

Just downloaded, and the only immediate problem is that my two MSN e-mail accounts say "connecting" - and they are not connecting.

@Contrarienne - if you right click and say "check now" they will connect.  It looks like a small bug that will be fixed on Monday.  It has been a very long few weeks so we are taking the weekend off smile

I dunno if this is a bug or what, but seems like when I move Digsby contact list or any windows it seems they get stuck for a second. It also gives me spikes in 3D applications.  Everything else works great, good work!!

Vista 64-bit SP1

Edit:  explorer.exe is constant at 7% cpu usage when Digsby is on.

@kernelRiot - Virtual memory is inaccurate.  It is how much the operating system is giving it but not how much is being used. Your bug report showed RAM usage in the 30's and a commit size (which includes items that have been paged out) of 56MB.

Cool, thanks for the fast reply.  That's why I wondered about which number you actually used.  I know most applications use a TON more memory now that I have 4GB, I basically idle using 2-3GB.  I haven't had a performance problem though.  Thanks for the info.

Yeah, i am having the same issue, submitted a bug before i saw this post. I'll wait till the installer works.

You can always install this guy after Digsby is installed and before you launch the program:
http://update.digsby.com/vcredist_x86.exe

The installer will pretty much do the same thing for you...

Actually, there's just one thing that's been bugging me for awhile.

Why can't we just bold/italicize/underline a specific part of our messages on AIM?  The program only allows us to do it to the whole message, which really isn't convenient.

Cheers!

Hey Steve, I submitted a big bug report to you as well as a follow up email to alert you to what happened during and following the submission of the bug.  Just wanted to give you a heads up!

Looks good, just installed and only uses 8 Megs of RAM. Hope will stay so after a day of work with it wink

My PC info:

1.5GB of RAM
1.6 Intel Core 2 Duo
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64bit (up-to-date)

Very nice work!

Before installing the new build, the older version used about 55-60MB of memory when I intentionally opened all chat windows and hovered my mouse pointer over all menus, buddies and email accounts. The new build uses about 40MB when I do the same thing.
Also, after getting up to 40, it suddenly falls down to 5-10MB and then starts taking back the memory again.

When my Digsby is idle it uses about 20-30MB.

I think that it needs bit more RAM optimization to lower it somewhere to 10MB when idle and 20-30MB when it's all features are used.

So far, I had no bugs/crashes and the application runs very smoothly and much faster than the previous one.

Personal assessment: the work done worths praising, though more optimization would be very welcomed.

Thanks guys!

P.S. recently I found a small application called "minimem" which is for the RAM optimization (it's not like others, it's really cool one!). I find it very useful and use it with Firefox 3, Outlook, Digsby and other applications which eat lots of memory.

So, here is the memory usage of Digsby when it's run under Minimem:
Old build: Minimem "squeezed" Digsby to less than 10MB when it was idle.
New build: Minimem "squeezes" Digsby to less than 15MB when Digsby is idle.  Very strange for me!

Sumbitted a bug report. Right now, I'd say it is not advisable for users with Hebrew XP to upgrade.

Now my Digsby switched to used 32 Megs of RAM without doing anything. Before it was 8 Megs.

Submitted a bug report:

Backward RTL (Hebrew) skin and messages

1. When typing hebrew message - in the conversation window it appears backwards
2. When in regional settings the default preferences is set to hebrew, then the skin appears backwards. When changed to english, skin looks ok, but anyways - writing hebrew messages is still impossible (was possible in the previos release)...

It's running really fine here and I have no problems with it so far. This update was definitely worth the long wait! Congratulations, guys!

Wow! You guys are REALLY fast....but, it comes really SLOWWWWW when you're anticipating it lol smile But, no problems yet guys - the installer worked great (It took a little time at the start...but, that's nothin') - nice to see that RAM usage has gone down quite a bit! Granted, i might have a 'good' computer and all - but, idle, is running in the 20's-30's for me....it'll get the major test of all tonight if i can leave it up when i go to bed (Cause, there's a little bit of a storm comin') - so, i'll report back tomorrow when it's had some "play time" oO
