auto away when idle?

is there a way? like with AIM? i always forget to put up away messages and with trillian and normal AIM i can go auto away when idle

We have considered this - any other takers for such a feature? Would it only put up an away message if one is not set?  What if you have an available message, does it overwrite that with your auto-away message?

yes it would only put up an away message if it's not set therefore does not overwrite the old away msg

usually it just puts up the default away msg

This would be a nice option, preferably with the ability to set the number of minutes before it kicks in.  What it puts up for an away message is less important to me, but my personal choice would be something like "Idle for more than <configured number> minutes".

how soon do you think this can be implemented? because this reason along makes me not want to use digsby

Just jumping into the middle of the conversation here...

I'm not personally a big fan of having Digsby alter my away message to say I've been idle for a certain amount of time.  All of the clients I use via Digsby have an "Idle" function that makes the color of your icon change and sends a message saying "This person is now idle."

In short, I think the best solution would be simply simulating the idle features on each of the clients.  Possibly a little more difficult, but it would be truer to each client than a universal away message.

that's what happens already. unknown00 is asking for a separate feature that could set your status to away (with a message) instead of idle.

yup mike got it right. everything else can...digsby should be able to too!

I just registered to post in this thread, and I would really love to see this feature. This is something I really miss from pidgin.

It would automatically put up a default away message after a certain amount of idle time, and then it would be nice if it would remove it automatically when I am no longer idle.
