Very soon, likely tomorrow (Dec. 10, 2008), we're going to enable build 15142 (+ earlier) to upgrade to the latest beta build 19460 (or higher).
Build 15142 was released in May 2008. Several features simply don't (or won't) work anymore. Notably, Hotmail previews currently don't work, the TokBox API version used is soon to be discontinued, and most recently, ICQ probably doesn't work much at all.
Additionally, there have been small, yet minute changes to the Auto-updater which should work in almost every case. However, the code in 15142 is slightly flawed, and this is the reason we haven't yet initiated an auto-update from it.
Looking to the future, we're hoping to switch entirely to a new load balancer and log-in method, since the current solution is insufficient.
A big thanks goes out to our alpha testers which have helped solve many of the latest crashes and various smaller issues to make 19460, in our opinion, as stable or more than 15142 was. We've seen many fewer crash + other bug reports from the latest builds than we do from 15142.
The most likely failure (though yet, still very unlikely) is that after the update, digsby will fail to launch. In this case, the best (only real) solution is to reinstall with a fresh download.
We're looking forward to this update, as it will reduce the number of bug reports about bugs we've already fixed. 4000+ revisions and counting add up.
To everyone w/ 15142, good luck with the update, and we look forward to seeing everyone using the latest and greatest digsby.
