I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 with WINE 1.1.1.

As the original poster said, you need to place a copy of gdiplus.dll into the system32 folder of your WINE installation.

After that, instant messaging windows will not display, so go to:
Tools > Preferences > Advanced

and uncheck the Hide new conversation windows option.

I've noticed that links to email sites and MySpace/Facebook won't open up in a web browser and the window won't lock to the screen and slide off-screen, but everything else appears to work perfectly.

The source for this fix was found in the AppDB on winehq.org

Has anyone found a solution to the phython25.dll error?

Am running Hardy with Wine 1.1.2.

It seems that it is not a python25 problem, but a msvcr80.dll problem, which python25 relies on.  Output:

Code:

bob@bobsComp:~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Digsby$ wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Digsby/digsby.exe
fixme:actctx:parse_depend_manifests Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.VC80.CRT"
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCR80.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\Digsby\\PYTHON25.DLL") not found

Anyone have any ideas?  I'm (very) new to wine and am stumbling through this with snippets I read online...  :-/

The install went smoothly; no problems there.

You can get digsby to work fairly well.... see the following posts.

I've made a quick list of steps to get Digsby running in Wine 1.0+.

It's really simple, so if anyone is still trying to get it working then look no further. tongue

With the 'gdiplus.dll' fix above, I was able to run Digsby in Crossover Mac Pro.  I haven't been able to connect to MSN though.

I can confirm that this works.  I had to spend a while finding where the CrossOver program files folder lives.  Turns out it is under your username/library/application support/crossover/bottles/winxp/drive_c/windows/system32.  If you place the gdiplus.dll file there and then start Digsby it will be very slow but will load without crashing.  Good luck and feel free to ask me for help doing this.

Anybody got a fix for this? I have the same problem...
Already tried to change the audio settings in wine to OSS driver. Installed the oss libs... all to no avail.

Digsby starts, updates, logs in and... disappears!

it's running one of the updater sub-processes... you can avoid that by installing the latest version (release|alpha).

Well, I feel kinda stupid, but I didn't try restarting the computer.
After restart Digsby is starting and the 0x00000005 error is gone.

Only problem I have now is that it will not log on to all my accounts...
