Is there a way to remove the big semi-transparent digsby icon from the buddy list background? I find it very distracting and annoying, I just want a plain white background, if anything it shouldn't be there by default imo.

- Go to /program files/digsby/res/skins/silverblue/
- replace watermark.png by this image

or

- Go to /program files/digsby/res/skins/
- unzip this file into your skins folder.

The coolest way to do it is to add a skin variant.

Make a file called Digsby/res/skins/silverblue/variants/No Watermark.yaml with this in it:

Code:

# res/skins/silverblue/variants/No Watermark.yaml

BuddiesPanel:
  Backgrounds:
    List: white

Then you can go to the Skins tab in Preferences, and your "QuickSilver" skin should have a variant called "No Watermark."

We'll get more skinning info out soon smile

Thanks Kevin. The first suggestion, although it worked, would pu the icon back after digsby updated, this way works even better.

this variants thing makes me very happy. reading over the default skin.yaml is all i needed to do to find out how to tweak a lot of things

I just updated my Digsby, and had to redo the second method.  ( :

I can't even get the second method to work anymore, no variants show up...

EDIT nevermind, I'm dumb and forgot to make a variants folder smile

I really like the default theme, but I also just wanted to get rid of the Digsby icons.

The variants way is nice and clean. I created contact.png that is 64x64 and just transparent. Now if somebody doesn't have a buddy icon it just doesn't show anything. (This requires restarting Digsby to update to the transparent icon.)

Code:

# res/skins/silverblue/variants/No Digsby Icons.yaml

BuddiesPanel:
  BuddyIcons:
    NoIcon: ./contact.png
  Backgrounds:
    List: $GMainGrey

Please, please, PLEASE turn off (or give an option that will save to profile) the watermark on the buddy list!  I'm tired of editing the .yaml file after every update is installed.  This is very annoying.  It's like Coke putting a little marble labeled "Coca Cola" inside each can, just in case people didn't see the marketing on the outside of the can.

Same goes for the font of incoming messages.  Another config file to edit every time.

Man, there's just nothing better than having to do this every time I update Digsby. Really.

Actually, marbles in Coke would be novel, and not done for direct advertising, but rather to get those that [think they] don't like Coke, to drink it.  I'm quite positive that nobody on Coke's PR team would suggest such a thing "in case they missed the outside of the can." smile

Making variants would be great if updating Digsby (specifically when we have to re-run the installer) didn't overwrite them, leaving me in the same boat.

if you have to install digsby in order to get updates there's apparently still bugs with the auto-updater and you should be submitting bug reports. additionally i believe using the steps here and the variant kevin described should work just fine.

I haven't been on the forums in a while, and I hadn't seen that first thread you linked. I'll give that a shot.
