A preview version of Internet Explorer 9 is available. You can read more about it at http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/

Don't expect it to replace your current browser yet as it has no navigation bar nor normal URL input.

I tried messing with ie.microsoft.com in the hosts file, but I wasn't able to get the preview to navigate to anywhere else. neutral

All you have to do is Ctrl + O and type in the url you want and you can change the home page by editing the properties of the shortcut.

It doesn't make it clear. I only know as I read the user guide wink

BTW try their tests out in other browsers and see the difference. Chrome really sucks at the spinning browser logos. Firefox is slow on a few of the big animation ones for me.

I think that microsft can make many chages to explorer, with this new version, but i really think that firefox is better, uncomparable.

I absolutely agree with you Luchopas. Firefox is better than IE and any other browser out there.

Will Web Design become cheaper when IE9 is being published?

Why would the release of a new web browser make web designers charge less for their work :-/

Actually if IE becomes more standards compliant (and it is), and older versions (IE6) are phased out, less hacks need to be included to get the same experience across the popular browsing platforms.  Less hacks/fixes -> Less time -> Less money.

About 75% of so called web designers just use a wysiwyg editor such as Dreamweaver and seem unaware there are browsers other than IE. They certainly are not going to start charging less for their work as they usually just have a set fee for a package consisting of x pages and x images.

I think ms is trying to hold up the browsers market in its hand, but FF is growing a lot and Chrome is chasing FF. due to vast usage there are more hackers trying to hack via IE and hence more security issues in IE. ms have to give ie9 as a secured one. lets see

Well IE8 is extremely secure compared to previous builds and IE9 will further increase the security.

You will be surprised. IE9 uses hardware acceleration for graphics so is seriously fast at some things. It also has CSS3 and HTML5 support. If you read the IE9 blog Microsoft have gotten serious about the whole browser thing and are helping define some of the upcoming standards.

Well IE9 is in beta now but the hardware acceleration has revealed a bug that results in blurry text in both IE9 and Firefox 4 with hardware acceleration enabled.
