Facebook Authentication Error?

Facebook messenger is really the one thing that's keeping me from using this messenger full time. Is anyone experiencing an Authentication Error while logging into facebook? Anyone know how to fix it?

These are the steps below that the application takes me through:

1. See account with Authentication Error
2. Click Edit Account
3. Achievements to Wall is unchecked.
4. Advanced: all items are checked.
5. Click Save
6. Facebook Login window appears.
7. Enter password.
8. Checked: Keep me logged in to Digsby.
9. Click Login
10. At the top of the window it shows red >> and << with a button "Don't Make Me Log In Again"... This is not clickable.
11. Click Skip on "Invite your friends to Digsby" option.
12. You may now close this window... appears

After all of this, I still get the Authentication error. Maybe my facebook account is broken?

Any Help?

digsby hasn't worked with facebook for a lonnnng time now. The promised fixes don't arrive, and no word yet on a decent version upgrade to digsby that WILL work properly.
It seems digsby developers either don't know how, or care to fix the issues - and trillian gets more digruntled digsby users every day

I'll be honest, I was trying to switch BACK from Trillian.. I guess I'll have to wait.

For me, I follow the same process, except that I have nothing checked under advanced and once I click on login on the facebook login popup, I get a blank screen in the popup and the facebook tab in the application shows authentication error. I got digsby because I wanted something that supports all of the chat that I use for work. Labt924, I guess I'm going back to trillian also. Issues have been going on with facebook for a while, you'd think that it would be a priority.

This facebook issue is what made me create a user on the forum just to see if they ever plan to have a solution.

Guess I'll have to look into trillian since this is becoming a major issue to wait for months upon months. And randomly it'll work for a day to give us false hope.

As a long time user of Digsby, it's been interesting to see the Facebook frustrations for months now. I was happy to switch to Digsby and use it from its inception, as well as alpha test. The fact is virtually nothing has been done with Digsby now for a year since it was sold. I'll continue to enjoy Digsby and use it's reduced capabilities but have no expectation of things being corrected, or Digsby being developed any further.

If the fault of Facebook connections is a Facebook problem; how do services like Hootsuite and Tweetdeck, etc. make it happen without failure ?

+1 on all the above. A client that can't do FB is of no use to me. So close...  So I guess it's back to Trillian for me too. Digsby has had enough time to fix this.

Since this took a bit of searching. I thought I would share here the jabber workaround. Source below

Go to Digsby -> My Accounts and in the Add Accounts section at the top, select the Jabber icon.
You should get a window that looks like this:

In the Jabber ID box, put your.id@chat.facebook.com, and in the password field, put your facebook password. For example, if your facebook page is at facebook.com/yourname, your Jabber id is yourname@chat.facebook.com.
Remove the facebook account from Digsby

carbonize, thanks for the info, but that only covers Facebook chat, right?  You won't get other notifications by that method, if I understand it correctly.  I tried it, but I'm not seeing the new Jabber account in my Digsby window.  Maybe I'm forgetting something about how to make it display though.  I don't use chat much, but do like using Digsby for other notifications, so it would be better if the Facebook connection worked fully and properly

I'm also having a lot of problems with Facebook authentication right now.  For one, I seem to get two login pop-up windows every time it wants to authenticate.  And when I go through them, it doesn't seem to stick.  Also, I'm not getting the usual last screen about inviting friends to Digsby -- that's just white for me with a Facebook header bar at the top.  I changed passwords recently, and perhaps that's causing some of the problems, but I don't know why it would repeatedly ask me to log in.  I've done it a bunch of times now, but Facebook in Digsby keeps wanting to re-authenticate for some reason.  If this is an ongoing issue, which it seems to be, are there plans to fix it (hopefully sooner rather than later)?  Thanks.

Dronak this is one of the reasons I have gone back to using Trillian for now despite I finding it no where near as clean or easy to use as Digsby.

Yeah, it's kind of a shame.  I used to use Trillian a long time ago, but converted to Digsby because it had more features I liked.  I don't use IM very much, but I find Digsby's notifications on accounts very helpful and use it primarily for that.  I suppose that if Trillian or some other product can provide similar notifications for the accounts I have and use, I could switch to that, at least until Digsby gets things straightened out.  I've actually had to remove my Facebook account from it because I couldn't seem to stop the authentication pop-up windows.    I hope they fix things soon.

I just started getting this error today, but it happened after i disconnected with the intent to reconnect because the chat was messing up. The issue is likely on FBs servers, so I'd say wait it out.

I've started having a ton of issues with Facebook over the last day or two. I went from having a 50/50 shot of it actually connecting to getting absolutely nothing. Also, I was using the jabber workaround to connect to fb chat, but now I'm getting authentication errors for that as well (it will say that I've signed in from another location or that I'm flat out not authorized.)

I get the same issue as Red_chaos1. Everything fine until I purposely log off then I get authentication error when logging back on. I have found by logging off my digsby account and back in sorts this out though
