Twitter: Failed to Connect

I've searched for alternative Twitter clients several times over the last week, but never came across that one for some reason. Thanks for pointing it out!

Now to see if there's a way to get the pop-up notifications to stay more than a few brief seconds...

Yeah, I was looking into Janetter myself, and it seems like a decent Twitter client.  Digsby getting fixed is still the ideal solution, but until it does (if it does), I guess I can deal with running two programs, one for IM and one for Twitter.

Shifting the subject a bit, are Gmail notifications on Digsby having problems now, too?  I don't think I've seen any recently, and I've definitely received new e-mail in my inbox that should trigger a new mail notification.

I think Google quietly changed the notifier API several weeks ago. Fortunately, there's a third-party patch here:

Someone else suggested turning the notifier off, and plugging gmail in as a regular IMAP account. I haven't tried that, but apparently it works.

Thanks, cybermancer.  I decided to try that patch file and it seems to be working for me.  I also looked at the source, and it looks like the author just changed the URL in two lines that deal with account authentication.  A simple enough fix, but I doubt I ever would have figured it out on my own.  I've bookmarked the site you provided, just in case I need it again.

As for using Gmail as an IMAP account, I'd guess that works because it's not using those Gmail-specific files that the third-party patch you found updates.  Using the more generic IMAP connection must deal with authentication in a slightly different manner, which works even if Google changes things a bit.

Had someone email me this fix. Not tested it as I no longer use Digsby due to MSN not working.

i believe i managed to fix the issue as follows:
edit the file twitter.js in the path Digsby\lib\plugins\twitter\res, find the apiRoot parameter (mostly you will find it at line 208) just update it from 'https://api.twitter.com/1/' to 'https://api.twitter.com/1.1/' and start digsby and twitter is working!

This came from http://twitter.com/m7md_dev

Thanks for the info -- I saw that you posted this fix in another thread, along with a link to the Gmail fix, and replied there.  I just made this edit to the specified Twitter file and it seems to be working for me again.  Thanks!  The Hotmail/Live stuff still has problems, true, but I rarely use them, so Digsby is basically working for everything I normally check with it.  If only there were an MSN fix, I think we'd have the full capabilities of the program back.  I guess no one's figured out a patch or whatever for MSN though, huh?

MSN is fine if you stop using the alpha. The last stable release MSN works fine. That and MSN is supposed to die soon.
